The newspaper and magazine ads and television commercials for the "miracle" Amish heater would make you think that this heater is really special. The marketing for this appliance says that the heater is free and that it will also help you reduce your electric bills. Of course the wooden Amish heater cabinet will cost you between $350 to $400 and the heater itself is made in China. The company who distributes these Amish heaters is based in Canton, Ohio.
"Miracle heater" is certainly an attention-grabbing way to describe what is essentially a space heater with a light-powered display of burning logs. I did some research on the Roll-n-Glow and found that there is really nothing miraculous about it.
The Amish heater works like a fan-forced convection heater. The company claims that the Amish heater produces produces either 750 watts or 1500 watts. Not unlike other portable heaters on the market today.

Do Amish Heaters really work?
Are the Amish Heaters really a working heater? Yes, they work just like any other portable space heater. These Amish heaters have either a 750 or 1500 watt setting, so depending on the size of the room you are trying to heat, there should be plenty of heat to take care of it. I am really not sure of the cost of operation of these units as compare to other types of heaters. To get an unbiased review of the Amish heater, check out Consumer magazines. After all, these late night commercials are nothing more than that, commercials.
Make sure to do your research and check on safety issues as well. While modern heaters often have safety features, like a tip-over shutoff switch to shut the unit off if it somehow falls over.
The Amish heaters do seem to be rather expensive so make sure and search around for other options as well, there are a lot of electric fireplaces on the market today. Some units add a touch of elegance to a room and some are just downright ugly. I would say overall that the Amish heater would definitely be worth looking into, it might be what you are looking for, but maybe not.
